A man already convicted of attempting to kill a police officer almost six years ago in Boston was somehow out on the streets Monday and opened fire on random strangers in Cambridge.
While two victims suffered life-threatening injuries, the carnage would have been far worse without swift intervention from a Massachusetts State Trooper and a Marine veteran.
These good guys with guns did not hesitate.
Heroes with loaded weapons unquestionably saved lives in Boston Monday
According to investigators, 46-year-old Tyler Brown of Boston shot from 50 to 60 rounds on Memorial Drive. At least a dozen cars were hit, and people were found hiding under their vehicles to avoid the madman.
The same madman who served prison time for shooting at police in 2020, a crime that should have kept him behind bars for many years—the same person who assaulted a victim with a knife in 2014.
Exact details of the gunfight that erupted between Brown, the State Patrol officer, and an unidentified Marine veteran are murky. Still, at least two heroes used their legal and ready weapons to stop a violent assault and undoubtedly save lives.
Brown remained hospitalized with undisclosed injuries at last report
Witness Todd Czubek told the media that the first indication that something was wrong came from loud noises.
“At first, we heard sounds, which no one could make sense of it. Then the shots were so frequent and then such rapid succession. It was just like, ‘This sounds like gunfire,’ and then he had a large rifle, an automatic weapon,” Brown recalled. “He was shooting randomly, up in the air, spraying the area. He’s shooting all over the place, goes into the road, all the cars are stopped both ways, and he’s just shooting.”
Brown added that he joined the mass of other drivers who abandoned their vehicles and ran for safety.
If violent criminals, especially those so depraved as to shoot at police officers, were kept off the streets, this incident would never have happened. And, unfortunately, it is obvious that very few Massachusetts civilians on Monday were exercising their right to keep and bear arms.
There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
