Manufacturer Will Not Sell AR-15s to Agencies That Enforce Ban

When a major business takes an honorable stand for what is right, even though it will likely hit its bottom line, it is worth noting and celebrating.

CMMG, the Missouri-based manufacturer of the uber-popular AR-15, responded on June 30 to the rash of state governments that enacted sweeping bans on their sporting rifles. The company refuses to sell its products to law enforcement agencies in these outlier states with a notable carveout.

It’s a rare company that puts principles ahead of profits

“At this time, CMMG would like to renew our statement on sales of products to states that restrict the freedom of its citizens…We do not have two classes of citizens in the country; we are ALL subject to the Constitution,” the business announced in a press release.

The statement clarified that law enforcement in oppressive states may continue to purchase their weapons—with an important caveat.

“CMMG will fulfill orders in restricted areas if the Chief of Police or Sheriff of that respective department makes a public and written statement refusing to enforce those unconstitutional restrictions on the citizens in that jurisdiction,” the gun manufacturer declared.

Law enforcement agencies may continue to purchase AR-15s, with one requirement

The statement closed with a loyalty pledge to U.S. citizens and the Constitution. Lest anyone believe CMMG intended to smear those who protect and serve, the statement concluded by reiterating its support for law enforcement, “but not at the expense of disarming and restricting our fellow citizens.”

This is not a promise without consequences. With the U.S. Supreme Court set to hear arguments on the legality of such bans in the fall, 11 states currently have AR-15 prohibitions on the books.

Police chiefs and sheriffs are bound to follow state law, though many refuse when gun control restrictions clearly violate the Second Amendment.

These public officials put their livelihoods at risk in the same manner as CMMG to defend the right to keep and bear arms. It’s a courageous stand, and one that bears watching as states will undoubtedly apply pressure over these acts of conscience.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
