Second Amendment opponents’ playbook against gun rights is as old and worn as it is predictable. Any official recognition of the right to keep and bear arms is met with shrill proclamations of the resurrection of the Wild West and carnage in the streets.
Only, that’s a myth.
A majority of the safest places to live in the US have constitutional carry
The National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) recently posted a revealing and incontrovertible fact on X that decimated the argument against constitutional carry. It noted: “The data is clear. The Constitution is explicit. It is time to enforce Constitutional Carry nationwide.”
Of the 15 states deemed the safest in the Union, nine do not require law-abiding citizens to beg the government for a permission slip to possess their lawful weapons away from the home.
These are Maine, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Vermont, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Iowa, and Nebraska. While neither made the top 15, both Florida and Ohio saw dips in their crime rates after establishing constitutional carry.
If anti-gunners were correct, blood would flow in the streets
NAGR sifted through data that showed the crude death rate per 100,000 residents, and Second Amendment-abiding states fared better than their anti-gun counterparts. This should be an eye-opener for radical anti-gunners, though they are quite immune to facts and reason.
Instead, they rely on propaganda that ignores the truth and paints firearm owners as wild-eyed and unstable individuals who must be closely monitored by the government.
There are currently 29 states that practice constitutional carry. Lawmakers in these bastions of gun rights trust the people who elected them to freely exercise their constitutional liberties.
What is clear is that the frantic hand-wringing of anti-gunners is nothing more than sound and fury, unsupported by the facts. Law-abiding Americans demonstrate every day that they are invaluable stewards of the right to keep and bear arms.
