In a political climate where anti-gunners want to eradicate the right to keep and bear arms, it is encouraging to see U.S. states that forcefully push back on this encroachment.
Take Utah, for example. With its Firearm Safety in Schools Amendment Bill, the state established a forward-thinking program currently only featured in Arkansas and Tennessee.
This safety training, which can start as early as kindergarten, received high praise from the firearm industry’s trade association.
Gun rights group recognizes an intelligent program designed to enhance public safety
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) noted the Beehive State’s leadership with a rousing release.
“Utah’s new firearm safety education law is exactly the kind of smart, ethical, and prudent policy that traditional and lifelong gun owners know keeps kids safe, all while respecting the Second Amendment,” the NSSF declared.
The group further lauded the effort as built around a powerful gun safety mantra. Don’t touch, leave the area, and tell an adult.
Critics do not want safe gun handling; they wish to eradicate private ownership entirely
Utah’s law permits students to opt out of the instruction, a feature not seen in the other two states with similar programs. One overriding feature of these programs is their effort to remain apolitical amid the political firestorm surrounding the Second Amendment.
Instead, children are taught precisely what to do when they encounter a firearm. This is wise, as tens of millions of Americans lawfully own weapons, and more are exercising this fundamental right every day.
Not surprisingly, Everytown for Gun Safety opposes this common-sense program. Meg Beauregard, a policy council fellow at the anti-gun outfit, criticized the push to enhance firearm safety.
“If lawmakers were serious about protecting students, they’d pass laws that hold adults accountable, such as secure storage—not put the burden on kids to keep themselves safe,” she claimed.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
