The names, dates, locations, and some specifics change. Still, the general scenario of bad guys choosing the wrong targets and often paying the ultimate price is a modern-day case of history repeating itself.

This time it was in Rochester, New York, and despite the state’s harsh anti-Second Amendment policies, local authorities quickly recognized who was responsible for what. It was about 4:30 a.m. Monday, and the homeowner was asleep.

That relaxed state of being changed in an instant.

New York man awakened to a nightmare scenario, but he was prepared

According to investigators, a neighbor called 911 and reported hearing gunshots at this early hour. Moments later, another emergency call came in, and this time it was the homeowner.

He told authorities that he was awakened by the unmistakable sound of someone breaking in through the back of the house. Fortunately for him, at that moment he had a far better option than whispering into the phone and trying to hide in his own home from an obvious threat.

The resident, who reported already being the victim of several recent burglaries, fired at least one shot. That was all it took.

Officer had a word of caution for criminals looking for an easy mark

Rochester Police Department Captain Frank Umbrino told local media that initial indications are that the shooting “appears to be justified.” The homeowner used a legally registered firearm to defend himself, and the suspect died from his injuries in the kitchen.

The armed defender reportedly did not know the alleged home invader.

In a revelation that should surprise exactly no one, it was quickly revealed that the deceased was on parole for another burglary. Authorities have not released his name.

Umbrino revealed that other residents came forward with similar reports. “Neighbors have told us that there have been some break-ins over the past couple of weeks,” the captain said. “I haven’t had a chance to dig into that at all.”

Then the New York law enforcement official channeled his best impression of a Florida sheriff or an old-school Midwestern deputy. “My message is don’t break into houses.”

Exactly.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
