It is unquestionably a striking new design adorning Smith & Wesson pistols, and the markings are a part of Second Amendment history. The venerable gun manufacturer unveiled a limited-edition series of M&P handguns as part of their relocation to the South.

By all accounts the company received a warm welcome to Tennessee after more than 170 years of doing business in Massachusetts.

Smith & Wesson increasingly found its traditional home hostile to the firearms industry, and the shift to a warmer and more open climate is celebrated with the new lineup.

Specifically, it faced legislation in its previous location that would have prevented it from producing popular firearms that are legal in most states. The potential for such oppressive restrictions proved too much for the company, as they would any respectable business.

It was 1852 when Smith & Wesson was established in Connecticut, and its home would soon shift to Springfield, Massachusetts. After last fall’s historic move, home base is now Maryville, Tennessee, and the National Rifle Association praised the foresight shown by the move.

Executive Director of Advancement Tyler Schropp told Fox News Digital, “Congratulations to Smith & Wesson on their grand opening in Tennessee. This move is a testament to their enduring legacy, their commitment to firearm excellence, and to the importance of preserving America’s gun industry and Second Amendment rights in a fair environment.”

At the October ribbon-cutting ceremony, Smith & Wesson President and CEO Mark Smith was very optimistic about the manufacturer’s future.

“From where I stand, the next 170 years of Smith & Wesson are looking pretty good. It is something special here in Tennessee.”

Approximately 750 jobs and an investment of $120 million accompanied the historic move.

And now there is a new line of limited-edition pistols to commemorate what will certainly be the start of a very bright future for the operation. The Tennessee flag M&P handguns are a work of art and mark a new chapter in the nation’s legacy of gun rights and sport shooting.
