A seemingly ordinary Wednesday night in a suburban Tulsa neighborhood exploded in violence at around midnight. The alleged target first retreated, then wielded a baseball bat when the suspect followed him inside and finally deployed the “great equalizer” to stop the insanity.
The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 alert to a possible shooting and quickly converged on the scene. What responding deputies discovered was the aftermath of an alarming and potentially deadly confrontation.
Target went above and beyond any reasonable expectation to avoid physical violence
Investigators soon determined that the suspect, 37-year-old Joshua Arenas, emerged from the darkness and told the homeowner he was taking his truck.
The surprise encounter quickly escalated with a threat of violence, and the resident retreated into his home. That’s when Arenas allegedly followed the man through the door.
The homeowner grabbed a baseball bat and struck the suspect, forcing him back out of the house and into the front yard. Arenas reportedly continued his assault, and that’s when the defender drew a gun and fired a single round into the aggressor’s leg.
Suspect fortunate to survive the explosive confrontation
Emergency personnel treated the suspect on the scene before transporting him to an area hospital. From there, he was arrested and booked on charges of attempted first-degree robbery by force, first-degree burglary, and assault and battery.
As for the homeowner, the preliminary investigation cleared him of wrongdoing. Thanks to Oklahoma’s Castle Doctrine, that should be the end of the ordeal, as it is glaringly obvious that he did all he could to de-escalate.
After all, he tried to defuse the frightening encounter first by retreating and then using a non-lethal weapon to defend himself.
When neither of those tactics succeeded, the homeowner produced his weapon and ended the alleged attack. He demonstrated an enormous amount of self-control in first attempting to protect himself from violence without shooting the suspect.
When that failed, the clear and present danger forced the homeowner to resort to an armed response. That’s the beauty of the Second Amendment.
There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
