A special privilege granted to qualified active, retired, or separated law enforcement officers to carry concealed weapons nationwide, regardless of local gun control laws, should be expanded.
That’s the word from former Army Special Operations Officer Gavin Glasenapp, who told Fox News Digital that he fully endorses extending the same freedom to elite special operations veterans.

The Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act and its companion bill are currently in the Senate and House, respectively.
The decorated veteran and training operations manager at Delta Defense, which is part of the U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCAA), called these men and women “specially selected, uniquely trained.”
“I can think of no better group of people to be equipped to defend themselves and others around them,” Glasenapp said. “In fact, that’s part of our core values here at Delta Defense. We believe every American has the inalienable right to self-defense, and I can think of no better group [to] really emulate that and really show you what that looks like.”
‘Uniquely trained’ vets are an invaluable first line of defense
This law is a worthy extension of the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act. This 2004 statute recognized the enormous value of having these qualified individuals armed as a first line of defense.
Nationwide constitutional carry or even concealed carry reciprocity would greatly improve the status quo, but they face numerous obstacles from the anti-gun lobby.
Allowing Special Ops veterans to bypass state and local carry restrictions, with some exceptions still in place, puts more highly trained personnel in positions to defend the innocent and even save lives.
Glasenapp noted that retired law enforcement officers are currently exempt from knowing carry laws in multiple locales when they travel.
“So, for example, if you’re a retired law officer, and you’re on a cross-country road trip with your family, that definitely streamlines things a lot,” he explained. “You’re not having to check things like a reciprocity app.”
