A Houston family of four endured an inexplicable shock just before sunrise on Thursday. An unidentified cousin of the mother, for reasons undetermined, allegedly started stabbing the children inside, but as the minors struggled to defend themselves, an armed 18-year-old stepped up.
The Marlin Police Department reported finding a dead body and three wounded individuals when they arrived. The stabbing victims were taken to local hospitals, where they were reportedly in stable condition.
The alleged attacker did not survive.

Details are hazy over how the insanity erupted, but another relative told local media that the suspect suddenly started stabbing the occupants. The woman said the 18-year-old was able to secure a firearm and put down the threat.
She added that the suspect was experiencing health problems, but it is unclear if that had anything to do with Thursday’s tragic scene.
The young woman who defended her family must have had precious little time to assess the situation and react. The son was originally transported to the ICU but is now out. A neighbor reported that the juvenile knocked on his door in the dark hours of Monday morning covered in blood.

The scenario that unfolded must have been particularly difficult for the young woman who survived being attacked with a knife. After all, it was a family member whom she had to defend her loved ones from, and that carries a weight she must address.
But the family survived, and everyone appears to be on the road to recovery. The investigation is ongoing, but without a nuclear revelation that is hidden so far, there should not be charges filed.
Instead, a healing process is coming for the mother and her children. Despite the unfortunate fatality, the realization should sink in that the young woman was left with no choice, and she fought through being wounded to save her loved ones.
