Video of a fearsome scene in California is circling the internet this week as testimony to the wisdom of being armed and alert.

A Los Angeles family is fortunate after two alleged armed intruders attempted to jump the father at his front door. Footage clearly showed the perpetrators scaling the wall around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night as the homeowner carried a cup of tea and his keys and was about to enter his home.

The father told ABC 7, “I guess they decided to try to come at me and come in the house, but I have a five-month-old baby and a wife and a nanny in the house and that wasn’t going to happen.”

He added, “There was nothing in my house that was worth dying for. But I was willing to die for my family.”

As the man approached his door, one of the intruders rushed him from behind. “Out of nowhere I felt someone run up behind me, put something to my back, put a pistol to my back and somebody running up.”

He quickly threw down his tea and produced his own handgun. Several shots were fired in the direction of the suspects, and one of the alleged intruders fired at least a single round back. The armed suspect jumped over the side fence while the other scrambled over the front gate before running away.

The stunned family filed a report with LAPD’s Olympic Division, and the search for the suspects is underway. As for the courageous father and husband, he gave great advice to the two who tried to jump him as he entered his home.

“It’s a matter of time before these people get caught. I think they should just pick a new career before they do end up in jail.”
