Johnson Signs Order to Hold Weapons Industry ‘Accountable’

Proving yet again that anti-gunners knowingly misplace blame on inanimate objects and away from violent criminals, Chicago authorities now seek to punish firearm industry members whom they believe are responsible for crime.

On Wednesday, Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) signed an executive order directing municipal government agencies only to purchase law enforcement weapons from pre-approved vendors.

City leaders believe, even as blame is once again misassigned, this order will magically produce “accountability.”

EO is the latest manifestation of stigmatizing firearm industry members

The Office of the Mayor released a statement announcing Johnson’s brainchild.

“Mayor Johnson’s executive order directs the Department of Procurement Services, in consultation with the Chicago Police Department, the Office of Public Safety Administration, and the Department of Law, to develop procurement standards for firearm-related purchases within 90 days,” his office declared.

Johnson claimed this action “advances responsible business practices and community safety.”

Order receives Brady United’s support, an unmistakable sign

Of course, anti-Second Amendment outfit Brady United applauded the move while asserting that taxpayer dollars now go to unscrupulous vendors.

Organization President Kris Brown slammed “irresponsible sellers” and called Johnson’s order a “clear message that public dollars come with public responsibility.”

This is right in line with the city’s prior lawsuit against Glock and the state’s failed attempt to ban these popular handguns. It also harkens back to Johnson’s prior stance supporting moving law enforcement funding into social programs.

Instead of reinforcing local crime-fighting efforts, his supporters want taxpayer dollars reallocated to social services and mental health programs.

But while there’s obviously a need in Chicago and nationwide for more focus on mental health, that cannot come at the expense of arming officers against the very real threats they face daily.

Johnson, however, prefers stigmatizing gun manufacturers over serious crime reduction efforts.
