The military strategy of “bombing the ashes” to ensure the enemy is thoroughly destroyed is not one that state and local governments should regularly emulate.
However, this appears to be the strategy of New Jersey’s gun control regime. After successfully driving two Pennsylvania Second Amendment-related businesses, Eagle Shows and JSD Supply, into bankruptcy, New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport filed a personal lawsuit against the former owner.
Businessman faces further state persecution over gun-related enterprises
Jordan Vinroe was the successful owner and operator of companies that produced firearm parts and organized popular gun shows. Because JSD Supply sold so-called “ghost gun” kits, he now faces the nearly limitless ability of state prosecution fueled by citizens’ tax dollars.
Not one gun show operated by Vinroe was held in the Garden State, but that didn’t matter. Instead, officials accused the entrepreneur of organizing these events near the Pennsylvania state line to attract its citizens.
The AG posted that her actions somehow enhanced public safety. “Illegal ghost guns pose a serious threat to public safety–and we won’t rest until we get them off the streets. Today, we sued a key member of the ghost gun industry who has been trying to evade accountability for years.”
Driving lawful businesses into bankruptcy was not enough
Davenport did not mention that the target of her wrath is a former business owner who was driven into the ground through her state’s lawfare.
Unsatisfied with the state’s clear victory over gun rights, Davenport seeks to further punish a private individual who lost his livelihood due to interstate commerce.
“Ghost guns” are nothing more than the products of skilled hobbyists and firearm enthusiasts who craft their own weapons. This is not new, but the hysteria of anti-gun authorities certainly is.
Such an attack on any other enumerated right enjoyed by a citizen of another state would be laughed out of the courthouse. This official grudge against a defeated foe deserves the same treatment.
