A Nashville homeowner turned the tables on an alleged armed home intruder early Saturday morning in yet another heroic case of armed self-defense. Police determined the resident was well within his rights to use lethal force when encountered the stranger attempting to climb through his window.

It was just before 6 a.m. when the man and his family were shaken by the obvious sound of a person attempting to gain entry through the front door and then into windows.

According to local reports, the suspect was identified as 32-year-old Anton Cosby.

The homeowner was thankfully prepared, and he immediately grabbed a weapon and confronted the alleged intruder. He did the right thing and dutifully warned the suspect to leave.

That warning went unheeded. Cosby allegedly continued to break in through the window, prompting the resident to defend his family and home by shooting him in the arm.

Police believe Cosby then dropped his own weapon near the kitchen sink after he was shot coming in through the glass. He attempted to flee but officers located the suspect near the home, where he allegedly put up a fight before being subdued.

He was transported to Skyline Medical Center for treatment of his wounded arm.

According to the District Attorney’s office and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, a probe determined that the homeowner was justified in the use of deadly force. No charges are expected to be filed.

Meanwhile, Cosby faces a much different future. When he is released from the hospital, he will be charged with aggravated burglary, felony vandalism, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

A neighbor and 15-year resident, Linda Thomas, told WSMV 4 that she “probably wouldn’t have been able to sleep last night.” She added that she will likely add security features to her existing camera and alarm system.
