Congressional Anti-Gunners Demand End to ATF Reforms

A smattering of congressional gun rights opponents is up in arms over the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ (ATF) recent push to streamline its operations

Two notable Second Amendment opponents, Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and Lucy McBath (D-GA), penned a letter filled with sound and fury to the ATF over “dangerous” reforms that they claim threaten public safety.

Government efficiency is kryptonite to gun rights opponents

Paperwork that recently took many months to process now moves through the regulatory system in mere days, a much more efficient process that rattled some lawmakers’ cages. Reforms already enacted and new proposals drew the politicians’ ire.

“Taken together, these proposals constitute the most sweeping effort in decades to weaken federal firearms safeguards, prevent accountability within the firearms industry, limit law enforcement’s oversight of firearms dealers, and make it easier for dangerous individuals to obtain dangerous weapons,” the letter declared.

2A opponents detest private gun sales, which are out of their control

Anti-gun outfit The Trace explained that the final straw for lawmakers was the proposed mothballing of the previous administration’s “engaged in the business rule.”

This egregious restriction was intended to eliminate private sales of firearms between law-abiding citizens. Without the government’s involvement, anti-gunners lose the control they so desperately crave.

Then there’s the horror of allowing upstanding citizens to receive purchased weapons through the mail after passing the mandatory background check.

A practice that was common in American life until 1968.

The critical difference between the public and private sectors is that businesses that habitually fail to satisfy the needs of those who depend on them usually will collapse—and it doesn’t take long.

On the flip side, government entities can run roughshod over law-abiding citizens and be utterly unresponsive to the people’s concerns. Paperwork is slow-walked through unnecessary barriers, and anyone who’s ever been on hold for the IRS knows their time is not valuable.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
