Reps Introduce Bill to Safeguard Gun Rights on Federal Lands

While the shooting community celebrates undeniable recent progress on national gun rights issues, the battle remains far from over.

On Thursday, two U.S. representatives introduced the Federal Lands Lawful Carry Act, H.R. 9719, to ensure that upstanding citizens are not denied their gun rights on certain federal lands when they already comply with local and state laws.

If the proposal is successful, lawful gun owners need no longer disarm themselves at these travel destinations that range from visitor centers to even bathrooms. NRA-ILA Executive Director John Commerford noted that the right to keep and bear arms should not face arbitrary restrictions.

NRA supports measure to protect 2A rights on federal property

“When law-abiding Americans are enjoying the natural beauty of our country, they shouldn’t have to worry about crossing arbitrary boundaries and losing their God-given right to protect themselves and their families,” Commerford declared. “This legislation would greatly reduce the confusion surrounding the patchwork of where Americans can exercise their right to keep and bear arms on federally managed land.”

The NRA then thanked a pair of Second Amendment supporting leaders, Reps. Rudy Yakym (R-IN) and Pat Fallon (R-TX) for introducing the bill.

Right to self-defense does not end where government property begins

Yakym referred to his constituents who may lose gun rights just for entering a federal park building. “This legislation closes a loophole that turns responsible gun owners into accidental criminals and lets park rangers focus on managing our public lands instead of enforcing unnecessary restrictions.”

Fallon concurred. “This includes the right to bear arms on federal lands, including forests, national parks, and lands held by the USACE.”

Not being allowed to carry in the woods lawfully and the presence of vast tracts of wilderness put lives at risk from enemies, human and animal.

Someone following federal firearm laws and those for that area should not be disarmed when they very well face an unexpected situation calling for immediate self-defense measures.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
